Another one bites the dust. Terrible news.
The Irish Times, 10th February 2011:
The owner, Ciarán Finnerty, told The Irish Times yesterday he could no longer afford to pay the rent on the Ormond Quay premises. He said while he was “heartbroken”, he was not prepared to trade recklessly and so had no choice but to put the business into voluntary liquidation.
A creditors’ meeting is to be held next Tuesday and he expressed the hope someone would step in by then and buy the business, which employs 18 people. “It seems hopeless, but we are still working flat out on the off-chance that we can save the name at least. I built the place up from the ground; there was nothing there before I opened it. I will be heartbroken if if goes but I will have to move on.”

That’s completly shite. I loved that place. It’s a shame the greed of landlords in Dublin city centre is killing businesses off, particularily those with upwards only rent reviews. They’re putting honest people out of work… How utterly fucked is our beloved country by greed on top of more greed?
Really sad. Also just to warn them: the sign says the 14th, but Sunday is the 13th!
Noo!!!
the best Dublin’s Pub ever…!!
Best beer, best people, best atmosphere, best music, and best live music…
There will be not a sobstitute for the Sin’e’…

Thats a real shame…
‘Greed is the knife and the scar run’s deep’ – Dublin is closing down.
Good night Dublin, sleep well!

Just a point of clarification arising from earlier comments, the nearby ‘Dice Bar’ at Benburb Street will continue to stay open as usual.
RE. The Dice Bar remaining open, good stuff. A bar I’ve only ventured down to a couple of times but always liked it. Said goodbye to Sin É on Thursday, a good night had as always. Shame.
so sorry to hear it. Have not visited it, but judging from the remarks about, thats my loss. Very sorry. Time to start a tenant’s union guys? Power in numbers, look at Egypt. Hopefully, someone will fund you, not the banks of course, they are probably waiting for the landlord’s rent to pay them, thats gone now of course lol! Talk about biting off your nose to spite your face. Classic.
R.I.P Dublin
